5 Must-Have Hosting Essentials

Both my husband and I love hosting parties and creating small gatherings with our friends and family. Through trial and error, we've learned valuable lessons that have turned our gatherings into memorable experiences for us and our guests. Whether you are a seasoned entertainer, like us, or a first-time host, we’ve got you covered. With these 10 essential items you will be able to turn any gathering into an evening of laughter, friendly competition and an evening of unforgettable memories.

1. Drink Station: A well stocked drink station goes a long way. Have a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to accommodate guest preferences. For our drink station we always include the following: Soft drinks, water, juice, wine, beer, spirits, mixers and an option to make coffee, tea, or hot cocoa with our Keurig.  

2. Party Games: A variety of party games to cater to different preferences and ages. Jackbox Games is a digital game service that anyone with a phone can play and is always a huge hit while we’re hosting.

3. Music & Reliable Speakers: Create or find a playlist of upbeat and engaging music to set the mood. For outdoor events we like to use this Bose Soundlink Mini II Bluetooth Speaker.

4. Cozy seating: Comfortable seating arrangements are essential when hosting. You don't want your guests uncomfortable with no place to sit, we’ve made the mistake of not having ample seating for our guests. Prepare with extra folding chairs or cushions for guests to relax.

5. Proper Dinnerware: Proper dinnerware is essential, depending on your main entrée. While paper plates are convenient for quick clean-up, they might not be ideal for steak. Durable plastic plates are a better option without the need to buy a new kitchen set. Here are some choices for cutlery, cutlery organizer, and cups. Also drink charms are a fun way to distinguish your drink. 

Bonus: Elevate your presentation and serving experience with essential serve-ware: serving platters and trays, beverage dispensers (great for water, juice, or pre-made mixed drinks), charcuterie board, and serving bowls.
